Scholarship Information

The City of Sun Prairie Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department and the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Commission believe that everyone, regardless of circumstance, should be able to have access to programs, services, and facilities. We also believe in the reduction of barriers to access these programs, services, and facilities for those who are experiencing a financial hardship. Our scholarship programs have been established to offer these opportunities at a reduced rate. Our process to accessing scholarships was updated in 2022 with the intent to create an easy, streamlined, “no questions asked” process.

About the Program

There are currently two separate scholarship programs that the Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department offers. Any family or individual requesting a scholarship must indicate on the request form which program they wish to receive a scholarship for.

Program #1: Recreation is for Everyone Scholarship Program

  • Only residents of the City of Sun Prairie or students of the Sun Prairie Area School District are eligible to receive a scholarship.

  • Families will receive a $250 scholarship per calendar year that may be applied towards most programs, activities, and events. Facility rentals are NOT included in the scholarship program. Season passes to the Family Aquatic Center are available through the "Summer Pool Pass" program (information below), and will not be included in the “Recreation is for Everyone” Scholarship Program.

  • When registering online, you will automatically see a 50% discount on your total fees, which will be deducted from the $250 subsidy. If you wish to apply more than a 50% reduction of the fee, please call our office at (608) 837-3449 to register. Upon the launch of a new registration system (anticipated in November 2024), the balance of your $250 subsidy will be viewable in your online account, and you may choose how to apply your remaining funds at the time of checkout.

  • Only one applicant per household should apply (all names listed on the form should reside at the same address). Households must re-request each year.

  • No documentation is required to request or be approved for a scholarship. However, the City of Sun Prairie, Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department reserves the right to request documentation at any time for audit purposes. All requests and documentation are kept confidential.
