Preschool Playgroup

TinyTers2024Our Preschool Playgroup program is an opportunity for children to learn new skills through play! This program, offered in partnership with the Sun Prairie Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department and the Sun Prairie Area School District Early Learning Department, provides an inclusive, play-based preschool experience that builds essential skills for future school success. Designed to foster growth in areas like socialization, language development, and motor skills. Preschool Playgroup introduces children to the structure of a classroom while promoting independence and positive interactions.

Developmental Benefits

Preschool Playgroup offers children a chance to develop foundational skills in a supportive environment. The program’s emphasis on play, music, art, and movement helps kids build confidence and self-regulation, preparing them for the routines and expectations of 4K and Kindergarten. This early learning experience encourages expressive language, social engagement, and both fine and gross motor skill development, all key to a child’s educational readiness.

Drop Off/Pick Up

When you arrive at the school, families may group together or line up prior to the start of program outside the main entrance. Upon program start time staff will open the doors to the vestibule and have the children line up. There, you will sign our class roster and say good bye to your child. The class will then be escorted to their classroom as a group by our staff. This ensures that there is no confusion for SPASD staff regarding who is entering and exiting the building and limits wandering children. In the event of inclement weather, families will be admitted into the vestibule prior to the start of class, no more than 5 minutes before program start time, please plan accordingly.

For pick up, please arrive at the entrance to the school. You will be greeted by a staff member who will then bring your child to the doors at the conclusion of program. Typically, we will send children out one-by-one from the vestibule when we see their parent or caregiver so that they are not all running in the direction of the parking lot at once.

Snack Time

Students will be provided a snack at each session. Typically two options are provided and your child must decide which they are interested in for the day. Some examples of classroom snacks include animal crackers, goldfish crackers, cereals such as Cheerios, Apple Jacks, etc. Meat, dairy, and nuts are always avoided. You may also pack a snack for your child if you wish, however, your child is responsible for remembering they have a snack.

If your child has any allergies, please note them on the Child Information Sheet

What to Bring

We  encourage each child to bring a water bottle and a backpack with an extra set of clothes in case of any accidents or spills while at program. A backpack also makes transporting arts and crafts projects much easier. Please label all the items you send with your child so that any lost or forgotten items can be returned to the correct student!
