Thursday Afterschool Program
TAP is a convenient, engaging afterschool program designed for Sun Prairie Area School District students in grades K-5. Held every Thursday on early-release days from 1:30 to 5:00 PM at four elementary schools, TAP provides a mix of academic, recreational, and social activities that promote educational achievement and personal growth. This affordable program is a partnership between the Sun Prairie Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department, the Sun Prairie Aera School District, and Community Schools, and it offers enriching activities in a supportive, structured environment.

Program Details
Each TAP session includes age-appropriate games, activities, and crafts, as well as designated time for homework or quiet reading. Participants enjoy outdoor play and a light snack, provided around 2:30-3:00 PM, which generally includes a healthy mix of grains, dairy, or fruit. Parents should note any food allergies on the Child Information Sheet, and we will provide a designated table for children with severe allergies if needed.
Parent Manual
Please view the current year's Thursday Afterschool Program Parent/Guardian Manual here. The manual provides more detailed information about the program, which is summarized on this page.
Transportation
Currently, TAP does not provide transportation to program sites.
Sign In & Pick-Ups
Children will be signed into TAP by staff immediately after early release. Parents or guardians must pick up their child(ren) from the designated location and sign them out. If an authorized individual other than the parent is picking up, they should be listed on the Child Information Form or have written permission. Late pickups may incur a small fee, so please keep us informed if emergencies arise.
