City Revaluation: What to Know
Sun Prairie, it's a revaluation year! What does that mean? Simply put, a revaluation is a citywide reassessment of property values to help ensure property taxes are distributed fairly and equitably. In Wisconsin, assessments are based on fair market value.

Brave the Construction, Support Local Businesses
This summer is packed full of exciting construction projects in Sun Prairie! One of the most significant being Downtown Sun Prairie's Main Street Reconstruction Project beginning in mid-June and lasting through the fall.
This project will improve pedestrian safety, upgrade the aesthetic and breathable downtown environment with more trees, encourage restaurants to provide more sidewalk dining and shops more retail space, and make it safer for motorists to travel through Downtown Sun Prairie.
We know many folks like to avoid driving through construction whenever possible. But our local businesses need your support! And we'll continue to bring the same fun, welcoming energy that Downtown Sun Prairie is known for.
Learn more about this project and others by reading this helpful article. Follow DowntownSunPrairieWI.com for frequent updates and to stay in touch about events coming up this season.
You're Invited! Sun Prairie Bike Loop Ribbon Cutting, June 6
The City of Sun Prairie has recently completed installation of wayfinding signage for a 23-mile recreational bike loop. To celebrate this grand opening, we invite the community to join us for an official ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday June 6th at 10:00 a.m. The ribbon cutting will take place during Sun Prairie’s Farmers Market at the intersection of Market St and Linnerud Dr. Mayor Steve Stocker, Transportation Coordinator David Salmon, and Sun Prairie Moves will speak before officially opening the loop to the community.
“Dane County has a robust network of trails which is great for bicycle enthusiasts and for local businesses. The Loop puts Sun Prairie on the map as a destination for folks looking to enjoy a bike ride, to stop for a bite to eat or something to drink, and to get to know how great Sun Prairie is,” said David Salmon. “Beyond the benefits to the local economy, the loop is for residents of Sun Prairie! This is a resource that residents can take advantage of year-round for years to come.”

Sun Prairie to Participate in Urban Land Institute Technical Advisory Panel Study
Earlier this year, the City of Sun Prairie was selected for the Urban Land Institute Technical Advisory Panel (ULI TAP) program to explore strategies for economically and environmentally sustainable housing development in Sun Prairie to support projected population growth.
The study, which will occur from June 15-17, will explore how the City can support 500 new housing units annually through 2040 while balancing land use, infrastructure, public services and long-term affordability. In addition, the study will assess the potential cost impacts of varying development intensities on existing residents and identify funding strategies to help minimize or offset these costs.
The ULI TAP program provides a matching grant to support this study. Findings will be presented to the community in July - stay tuned for more details!

UNJUST DEEDS: A History of Racial Covenants in Dane County and Beyond
Thursday, June 4 from 6:30-8p.m., Community Room
For most of the 20th century, racial covenants were an insidious tool used nationwide to segregate whites from Blacks and other minorities in America’s burgeoning suburbs and residential neighborhoods. Racial covenants were clauses inserted into property deeds to prevent non-Whites and non-Christian’s from buying or occupying land. Although no longer valid or enforceable, they can still be found in the land deeds of almost every American community, including Dane County. Presented by Executive Director of the Dane County Historical Society Rick Bernstein, this program will explore the history of racial covenants in Dane County and nationwide.
